BODY PARTS |
This isn�t really a puzzle -- it�s something to do when you have nothing better on your plate. Try these without using any reference material:
1. Bills, bills, bills: Many bird names contain a description of the bird�s bill, e.g., Yellow-billed Cuckoo. There are at least 28 North American (N.A.) birds naming at least 18 different kinds of bill. How many different kinds of bill can you come up with? 2. Blackbird, Blackbird: More than 32 N.A. bird names contain the word Black followed by the part of the bird�s body that is colored black (e.g. Black-capped Chickadee). These names refer to at least 18 different body parts. How many different body parts can you list? 3. Red Birdy Parts: More than 100 N.A. bird names contain the word Red or some form of the word (e.g., Reddish) or some shade, tint or variant of red (e.g., Ruby), followed by the part of the bird�s body that is so colored (e.g., Red-headed Woodpecker or Ruby-throated Hummingbird). These names refer to more than 30 different body parts. How many different body parts can you think of? |
