The bird names below are in code. Each letter
of the real name has been replaced by a different
letter. Within each name a given letter is
always replaced by the same one. Thus, the
name COMMON LOON might appear as
LDNNDR PDDR.
Note that all of the O’s in the original
are replaced by the same letter, D;
both M’s are replaced by N’s,
and both N’s by R’s.
